Theo, lately

Theo is a wordsmith. He is insightful and ever willing to share his thoughts on all matters.

He is also a seafood enthusiast. Anything that comes out of the ocean is delicious to Theo.

(When cousin Nick declined the offer to sample this freshly caught, raw conch, Theo happily took a bite. He described it as a "large, tasty, firm gummy worm".)

A few weeks ago, I was prepping salmon for dinner. Theo was drawn to the kitchen and seeing the fish, soy sauce, and garlic proceeded to pepper me with questions-

"Oh, is that soy sauce going to go on the salmon?"
--- yes
"Mmm. That garlic will be great in there too."
--- Thanks, Theo. I hope so.
"So, have you ever tried this recipe before?"
--- Nope
"Yessss!"
....

With a single word, he managed to express his thoughts on all previous dinner attempts I have ever provided.

Thanks, Theo.

Elder Jones

And just like that, we're back.

In October of 2023, Calvin left to serve in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission. Every Monday afternoon we get to touch base with him over video chat.  His joy and enthusiasm for the mission is made apparent during our weekly conversations. We are incredibly proud of his willingness to serve.

Recent highlights from Calvin:

- on top of Spanish, he is now learning Creole to better teach the Haitian people in his area
- air conditioning and hot water are rare, almost forgotten, comforts from home
- protein is vital for thriving- he averages almost a half dozen eggs per day
-the secret to life may be a consistent 8 hours of sleep of each night
- homecoming date is August 22nd, and planning to attend BYU in the Fall
